Hi Lucy :) Yup, I understand about the emotional eating... Here's what I do - rather than focusing on the reasons NOT to emotionally eat, I focus on the reasons TO do it. In other words, I try to figure out what I am gaining from continuing the behavior. (for me, a big part of it is to numb painful feelings and memories as well as to escape from my "things to do list" temporarily.) Then, once I pinpoint what I gain from emotionally eating (or any unwanted behavior for that matter), I try searching for alternative but healthy behaviors that can help me achieve what I'm after with the unwanted behavior. For me, the alternative and healthy behaviors to emotional eating include yoga, swimming, drawing, sculpture, writing poetry, and reading. Hope this helps and sending many smiles :)

LUCY~~ I would try to get a second pych eval....I know how disappointed you must feel right now...."If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible to you." NEVER, NEVER GIVE UP.

Lucy, You may try another psychaitrist...maybe someone who has worked with Bariatric patients before. You can also ask your surgeon who they recommend or go to American Psychiatric Association and check on their find a doctor site. Maybe a psychologist can give the eval. They are better with speaking to clients. I'll be happy to help you if you'd like. oxoxoMarcy

I SAID A PRAYER FOR YOU TODAY~*~ I said a prayer for you today And know God must have heard- I felt the answer in my heart Although He spoke no word I didn't ask for wealth or fame, I knew you wouldn't mind, I asked Him to send treasures Of a far more lasting kind, I asked that He'd be near you At the start of each new day, To grant you health and blessings And friends to share your way. I asked for happiness for you In all things great and small, But it was for His loving care I prayed the most of all.**hugs**

LUCY~~ I think that everyone has a fear of failure going into this... how many times have we failed in the past.... but, after the surgery you WILL lose weight ~ keeping it off does require diligence in following the program. It is easier because of your small pouch. But, you can "eat around" the surgery by grazing and eating the wrong things. You must make up your mind that you are going to use the surgery as a tool - it will not be easy, but it will be worth it. BEST WISHES ON YOUR WLS JOURNEY

Hello Lucy - Congratulations on your upcoming surgery date! You'll find the changes that follow, nothing short of a miracle. For 20 years I prayed and hoped for a "second chance" in life to be healthier and thinner - I never thought I would get that chance, but I did, and now so will you. My humble advice? Walk as much as possible after surgery. As your body begins to heal make sure to get in your protein, even if it means plugging your nose and chugging back the protein drinks in baby [pouch] gulps. Vitamins need to be chopped, minced or crushed... whatever it takes to get them in daily, no exceptions, YOU are worth it. Also, let's not forget your new best(est) friend, water. It is SO important to get your minimum 64 oz in daily. One final thing, remember to CELEBRATE all the special moments along the way, big or small. Too many people focus on the number, ie. pounds lost. There are so many "moments" to look forward to and to embrace along the way - don't let any of them slip by. Enjoy your new healthier life, you've earned it!! Hugs and smiles -
