"I recently met with my prospective surgeon, Dr. Eric Schlesinger at the Bariatric Treatment Center in Belvidere, IL. My first impression was not a good one. He seemed stiff, bored and robotic in his presentation. It felt like being on a airplane for the first time and getting all the usual instructions. After a while I became more comfortable and at ease and was able to ask questions and felt that he genuinely cared about me and my problems. I feel very comfortable with the decision I've made and Dr. S reinforces the choices I have come to terms with. 3/5/3 I decided to self-pay and go to Dr. Ali in KC.... have my first consult on 3/14. Met him once at a support group meeting and really liked him. 6/21/03 I now have a surgery date, August 25, 2003. I will be having lap RNY at Truman Med Center in KC. Dr. Ali is a wonderful doctor. Not only him, but his staff is great to work with. Very friendly and helpful with ALL of my questions. Also I enjoy meeting with the student doctors who are so eager to hear my "story". Everyone is supportive and encouraging. I feel very comfortable with my decision to go to Dr. Ali and be closer to home as well."
