Alan Pillersdorf

"I went for a consultation with Dr. Pillersdorf. His office will notify me when they have an answer from my insurance company. I will post more then."

JFK Medical Center

"No shower in patient room, had to go down the hall and around the corner to take a shower."

Martin T. Harland

"Discussed this surgery at length with me to make sure I understood it would be a life altering experience, but once he was satisfied I had done my homework, had no problem supporting my decision. I am now 2 yrs. out. Dr. Harland and his nursery practitioner, affectionately known as Dr. Suzy, have both been amazing. They let me know they weren't experts in the care of bariatric surgery patients, but have been willing to let me "educate" them. They order blood work that I request, have done a lot of reading on their own, and ask questions of me to help their other patients that have had gastric bypass. Both of them refer to me as their "poster child" for weight loss surgery. There have been times that I was in the office and they would ask if I minded if they told another patient I had the surgery, and let the other person ask questions of me. I give them the highest rating."

Robert Liem

"My first impression of Dr. Liem was he is very soft spoken, but answered all my questions. His office waiting room is very cramped, especially for this type of patient. His staff seemed harried. The thing I liked least about him was one of his staff spent over 30 minutes discussing the surgery, etc. with me, but just jumped right in like it was a taped message. When Dr. Liem came in he expected that all my questions would have already been answered. We didn't discuss aftercare at the one appt. I've had. The only risks of the surgery that were discussed were answers of my direct questions, such as mortality rate, past history of post-op difficulties, etc. I supposed if I had asked more questions, I would have been given more information. I'm not comfortable giving Dr. Liem an overall rating based on only one visit. To me surgical competence is much more important. He doesn't necessarily have to treat me like a friend, just be skilled and professional."
