Barix Clinics (NW Suburban Com. Hospital)
"This facility is very well equiped to handle Bariatric Patients. Everything from oversized chairs and beds to a facility that specializes only in this surgery. There was alot of commradere and support from other patients as well. The one thing I noticed with the staff was that they were very attentive the first day out of surgery and then it tapered off each day accordingly after that making each patient more independant and ready to leave on time. Overall I feel this was a great facility for this surgery."

"02/27/02 Met with Dr.Vaughn yesterday at the BTC. Very impressed. Even though I had researched him and BTC it he was very insiteful and answered everything with confidence and professionalism. I asked him about the hang up earlier with his license and he felt that was a very fair question and he answered it to my satisfaction and I have NO reservations about him being my surgeon. I did feel somewhat rushed. We were there 4 hours total from start to finish and DR. Vaughn was about 1 1/2 hours late getting into the appt. I was the last of the day and the wheather was bad, but he stayed until 8:00 and answered all our questions. My wife was very comfortable with him as well and that makes me feel more at ease.Sometimes I forget that she has to endure this as well. Thanks Honey.3/18/02 I switched surgeons today to Dr.Boe because of a lack of organization on behalf of Dr.Vaughn. I'm sure it was not his fault, but the blame has to end somewhere. It took over 10 days just to get a surgery date after they had recieved my approval from ins. co. this was because Dr.Vaughns schedule for surgery hadn't been submitted to Michigan for surgery in April. I found out today that he isn't even going to operate until mid April. I asked for asnother surgeon and was given Dr.Boe have a date for 4/16/02. I haven't met Dr.Boe yet but have heard plenty of godd things to be comfortable with him. Finally felt good to get a straight answer.3/27/02 Btc called today and said I had to reschedule for later in the month,because Dr.Boe was going to be out of town. I told them this was unacceptable because this would have been the third tim I was scheduled and I had made plans. To make a long story short the switched me to Dr.Schlesinger and moved my date up to April 3rd. This was the original date I wanted anyway, so this turns out great for me."
