Hi there Kelly and all,
It's been almost a month since my surgery. I've lost 23 pounds and feel like I am eating well. I am on the pureed stage, but really I can tolerate soft foods already. I eat alot of cottage cheese and flaked fish (salmon, haddock, tuna) My surgery went well, my only complaint, gas pain in the chest the first 12hours. I walked and got rid of it. In Wed, out on Fri. I needed no pain killer at all when I got home or since. O'Malley is smooth. When I read about how sore some people with other surgeons are, I'm almost certain it is because of his experience. Not having to move that scope around alot because you know your landmarks must give us the advantage. This evening I had a wierd experience. I was thinking about what to feed my son and for a moment I was about to ask him if he wanted to order chinese food. I had visions of my normal fare of sesame chicken, mooshu pork, fried wontons, shrimp fried rice. For that 15 seconds of daydreaming, I forgot I had the surgery. I had to laugh at myself. REally of all things, that I want it's fresh fruit. I also was wanting buttered toast in the am. I made some, chewed it, spit it out, took another bite, spit it out until gone. I have only done that once. For the most part, I'm good and I am content. It is a miracle not to be hungry. That is what I was so fed up with before surgery. I would eat, and an hour and half later I would be physically hungry again. I am already so so glad to have had this operation. I feel like I have a new life ahead. I even bought an inflatable kayak/canoe for the summer. Something I have never tried before. I have my follow up visit on the 12th and look forward to the next graduation step.
Thanks all for reading about me.
