Hey Gang! Well it couldn't have gone any better. I don't remember a thing after talking to the anesthesiologist in the OR holding area. Amnesia from the anesthesia - I recommend it to everyone! Blocks out that scary time when you enter to OR room and everyone gets busy getting you ready. Woke up to some pain - not bad. My surgery was laproscopic and they also removed my gall bladder. Didn't sleep at all that night, but it wasn't a problem. Naval hospital in Portsmouth did a wonderful job of taking care of me. Stayed in the step-down unit until early the next morning. Very uneventful. First steps out of bed were interesting. Me more concerned about pulling something than actually having pain. It did feel like my stomach was going to slide right down my legs!!! Just an odd feeling. Most of my pain was lower back, from the way I was positioned on the OR table (towels rolled under my lower back to arch my stomach up.) Went home on Thursday morning (just 2 days in hospital). I am already walking 30 minutes, driving, and learning to eat again. It does take some concentration on chewing your food and swallowing water. If my mind is on something else, and I accidently swallow too much water, I can really feel it. No dumping~~~~~ :" No nauseau, except when I ate my protein too quickly. Carnation instant breakfast when I first wake up - 30 minutes to drink!!! Water, then more protein (eggs taste like heaven at this point. Well more later.
