"Professional but friendly. Very focused on patient care and followup, not only from himself and staff, but from all hospital departments that I had any contact with. Also very patient and understanding and believe me, I appreciated that since I was very apprehensive about my surgery. His clinical director RN Jamie is a tiny little person and my first thought was, "Oh Lord, what in the world can this little hummingbird know about obesity?" And then
I listened to the seminar and discovered she knew a lot about it. The people in the office have also been very kind and helpful with any questions or problems I have had. They kept me informed with all the details of the process, worked to schedule events for my convenience which was important as I work nights. The thing I liked least about Dr. Husted was that he wasn't easily swayed about my care and insisted that things were done according to my best interests. Example: I didn't feel that I needed to see a pulmonologist and he insisted that I do so. I was easily cleared for the surgery but afterwards I realized that it is better to be prepared for any possible complications. He does everything he can BEFORE the surgery to make sure things will go great afterwards. So the thing I liked least ended up being the thing I liked most. I never at any time felt afraid that I wasn't in the most competent care. The surgery itself is carefully explained thouroughly more than once, with emphasis on the fact that this is MAJOR surgery with all the inherent risks. I can honestly say that I was terrified of the surgery when I made up my mind to have it done, but after the seminar and office consultation with Dr. Husted I knew that I had the best surgeon there could be. I went into surgery thinking that I might die and if I did then that was okay because I couldn't continue to live as I was. Thanks to Dr. Husted's expertise and the miracle of the drug, morphine, my post-op went beautifully with no complications, and minimal discomfort. I wish everyone could go through this surgery as easily as I did. And a big part of why I feel I did so well is because of the confidence I have in Dr. Husted and his staff. "
