David Geller

"I was very impressed with Dr. Shina--and I do not impress easily. I found him to be extrodinarily bright and and surprisingly funny--while at the same time pulling no punches about how how the Roux-en-Y will change my life. He didn't hesitate to describe the hoops through which I would have to jump and how I would have to be responsible for following his plan for success. He can be very abrupt in the tone of his answers--but it is clear that he cares about the work he does and the patients he helps. He leaves no doubt as to waht you can expect both before and after the procedure.
I was asked if I wanted to wait for Dr. Shina or if I would like to scedule an appointment with Dr. Geller. I am more than happy to let Dr Geller perform the procedure--he will be supervised by Dr. Shina--but I believe that Dr. Geller is at a point in his training that it is more formality then anything else. I do find it reassuring that Dr. Shina will be present as I have a lot of adhesions from the 3 C-sections I had done previously. I liked Dr. Geller when I consulted with him--especially since I come from a medical background and can't stand having things over explained!
One thing made me very curious--Dr. Geller has a weight problem--and I was really wanting to ask if he has concidered the surgery and if he has not--why not."

"He was very interseted in explaining how great his practise is, how superb the service is that he provides and how wonderful it will be when he writes the manual he is completeing on WLS. He didn't demonstrate to me any ability to listen--but maybe my expectations were too high. I will try to keep an open mind and attend his support group meetings. Maybe my opinion will change."
