kim here. one last update on rahbin before i leave town. drs. probably let her go home tonight-one last look under the hood......temp is normal. very cognitive.she got to shower yesterday. yeah!!!!!! felt much better after that. bruising starting to show from the heparin shots. expanded diet again. yesterday she had oatmeal and applesauce. she's up and moving around starting to feel sore from too much activity and i think also she is feeling more because they are weaning her from pain meds plus anasthetia is wearing off. you all will probably hear next from her. i gotta go! kim

kim here. rahbin probably goes home tomorrow. i think her temp is finally broken. iv and epidural came out today, and she doesn't seem to be so uncomfortable as she has been. she got to shower today. she was glad for that. she's on soft foods now and doesn't seem so nauseated like she was at first. we actually had an intelligent conversation that didn't include talking to (imaginary)people that weren't in the room. she's in and out of bed on her own and has no problem getting around. got to go now. don't know if i'll write more or not. kim

hi! kim here, rahbin's friend, and part-time secretary. just came home from hospital.hard day today. a nurse accidentally pulled her g-tube out, temp. is back up, itching is non-stop,and her room is shrinking leaps and bounds as her mother smothers her with fuss. her iv blew a second time yesterday and a third one was put in. now it is in her wrist and they heplocked it till she needs meds, then they put it through the heplock.nobody warned her of how much sodium is in the broth and it made her gag. she was able to control it, but it started a burning gagging feeling, fortunately, she was able to control it with alcohol wipes. did you know alcohol wipes resolve nausea. well, i am very tired. more later!!!!! kim

kim again. rahbin's friend. i spent the night at the hosp. with her and she has a low-grade roller-coaster temp. when i left today, they removed her iv, and she's up and walking around. today she started clear liquids and she was handling that fine. breakfast was apple juice, chicken broth, and red jello. they will be moving her out of a private room today. she didn't care for that idea. that's what happens when you do well though. tomorrow she will be on soft foods(applesauce,yogurt...). her anasthesiologist said considering the procedure, her recovery has been of the best he has seen.:) itching from the epidural has been probably her biggest complaint. i will go see her tonight after work and will update more later!!!! kim

hi everybody! this is kim, rahbin's friend. rahbin did beautifully through surgery. she did lose a little blood, but doc wasn't concerned about that. while they performed procedure, they took biopsy of what appeared to be fatty tissue. they did it only as a precaution, NO indications of anything more serious. surgery was a little more than 1 1/2 hrs and she stayed in recovery about an hour, than was moved to a private room. rahbin has to cough /breath deeply with her spirometer about 10-15x hr. she got up last night and walked to the door in her room and back to bed. poor thing was talking in her sleep about getting up and walking. she's always had her eye on the prize! got to go now. i'm going to see her before i go to work! more later! kim

Rahbin came through surgery well. She did lose a little blood but Dr Baker was ok with that. They did a liver biopsy and results will be in Wednesday. Dr Baker feels like it is just fatty desposits but wanted to be cautious. I will update later. Denise Drye
