"They gave me a private room with a special bariatric bed designed for obese patients and that really helped getting in and out of the bed. I had a private bathroom and the bed had the nurse call button, the tv remote, and the bed adjuster on it. The nurses were very familiar with my DR. and his procedures. My Dr. came by two times to see if I was doing OK. Great experience."
"I went to the information session given by Dr. Marema and recieved some very helpful information. He is a very personable man and seems to truly enjoy his chosen field of bariatric surgery. He was honest about the risks of the surgery and did not try to "fluff" things up. I think if you are going to let someone open you up, you need to take the time to listen to the risks and FULLY understand what could potentially happen. I really appreciated the way he showed opposite ends of the spectrum of the patients that he treats. Debbie is the nurse coordinator and she seemed helpful, although when I left the meeting I was a little confused about what step I should be taking next. Although, it may not have been their fault, its possible I wasnt listening carefully enough. Dr. Marema made it very clear that aftercare for this surgery is life long, and that it is the patient's responsibility to follow up on that. I think one of the greatest things that a surgeon in this field could do for a patient is have that patient trust them. So far, his office seems to be the one for the job.
5/30/03 Dr. Marema no longer accepts my insurance so I have been to an information session with Dr. Wizman. He is personable and professional. His interest in this surgery is due to the fact that he specializes in laproscopic surgery and he was very blunt about that. He is also very confident in his abilities and I felt very much at ease. His office staff has been nothing but fantastic. Every time I call they are friendly and helpful, answering all my questions and inquiries."
