"My first impression wasn't good. I started out with another doctor but he took a medical leave so Dr. Scott took my case. The first visit with him wasn't good, I argued with him about something he wanted me to have done that I didn't think needed to be done, an upper GI. YUCK!! I found out that he had most of his patients do that just as a precautionary measure and he was really looking out for my best intrest. The second visit was totally different. He really cares about the patient and does what is best for you. The office staff is wonderful. I feel that a couple of the nurses have treated me like a friend and really care about your wellbeing. One nurse, Karen, went above and beyond to help me through everything prior to surgery. What I liked least about the doc was his bedside manner, at first. After the first visit, he was different. Future patients should know that despite how he might come off at first, he really knows what he is doing. He takes his time to make sure that every detail, during surgery, is covered. He takes his time in closing the incision just to make sure everything is perfect. I don't think that he emphasizes aftercare as much as the nurses do. He does talk about it but I got most of my info from the nurses. The whole program is very structured, before and aftercare. Before surgery, Dr. Scott goes over everything and is willing to answer all questions. I would rate Dr. Scott as a great surgeon. Surgical Competence is better by far than bedside manner of course but I would have to say that bedside manner is the first impression that a person sees with a doctor.
