Hello Cathy! We're surgery buddies! My surgery is also May 13 and I can hardly wait. I had all the anxiety and fear early on in this journey. In fact I was hoping my PCP would talk me out of it! But I did my research and have found lots of support from family and friends. I am so ready to start with a new lease on life! I will be thinking about you on Monday the 13th. You'll see, it will be a great day to have surgery. Best wishes, Brenda

Hi Cathy, My surgery is also scheduled May 13th. I share your feelings of nervousness and excitement. I am very afraid that something will go wrong At the same time, I just want to live a long and healthy life, climb hills and ride bikes with my husband and daughter. This is so totally worth the risks we are facing! Never in my life do I remember being comfortable in my skin, or not being self conscious of my size. This is a chance for us to just BE. I will be thinking of you also when I go into that operating room. See you on the other side!

CATHY~~ May you always have an Angel by your side. Watching out for you in all the things you do. Reminding you to keep believing in brighter days. Finding ways for your wishes and dreams to come true. Giving you hope that is as certain as the sun. Giving you the strength of serenity as your guide. May you always have love and comfort and courage.

Good luck to you with your upcoming surgery, Cathy. If you get the butterflies -- and boy do I know those guys ("get the net!") -- I recommend reading some of the message boards on Yahoo for WLS's for protein shakes and recipes. Also, it's good to read longer-term post-op folks' journals. What I like about all that is that it helps me visualize life in six months, or two years or more from now, and to focus on why I'm putting myself through the fears and stresses of the surgery. It's such a short part of the process, really, and surgery's just how you kick the door down so you can walk through it and start getting better. Smile, do deep breathing exercises, and try to let yourself visualize the *future*. {{{Hugs!}}}
