Hey Bryan, thanks for the update! I'm so happy to hear that you are doing so well! I fight that dang sugar demon, too. I seem to be able to eat endless amounts. It makes it difficult for me to get these last 25lbs off. All in all, though, I feel great.

Well, well, well... one whole year. For many reasons, this past year has been the most life changing ever. Let's see... my weight (drum roll please.............) currently I am 234lbs, although I have been as light as 214lbs. I have added 20 lbs this past winter and I am eating far more sugar that I should be... but I am happy with my weight and many people tell me that I look healthier at 230ish. I am OFF BP meds completely and I am consistently in the normal range. I run (that's right RUN) 2 to 3 miles everyother day. I love to work out. This past summer I climbed (that's right CLIMBED) Mt. Washington. It is a 12 hour trip. I have a new special person in my life and we are making a home together. Things are good, no... make that Life is good. Thanks to everybody for caring and sharing. I'll try to post more updates soon. Take care and goodluck. If anybody ever has questions about the surgery please do not hesitate to ask me... I will give it to you straight up (pros and cons). WOW!! Has my life changed. It has been almost 5 months and I am down to 256lbs! That is a loss of 104lbs!!!!! I have left Arizona, and moved to Boston, MA. I accepted a GREAT job offer and doubled my earnings. My marriage fell apart, and I am in the process of getting a divorce. It is for the best though. I really enjoy being able to shop in regular stores and to wear clothes that fit right (like the designed intended them to fit). I have a social life again, and I am really starting to enjoy life. Ok guys & gals... I had my J/P tube removed today. OUCH!!! Only 3 more weeks, and then the G Tube comes out... I'm sure there will be another OUCH!!! My blood pressure has sky rocketed up to 170/110 since Dr. Zahn ordered me to stop taking my b/p meds post-op. I contacted my primary care physician and he went crazy. He told me to get back on my medicine, NOW! Stopping b/p meds in an abrupt manner will cause major problems. Let's see if/when it comes down. That was all of the bad news.. now the GREAT NEWS!!!!! -- - --- -- drum roll please: after only six days of my new lifestyle I have lost 15lbs!!!! YES! I am so happy. It is no wonder I am losing weight, after all I am only eating 2oz per meal. My main problem is getting in the protein. I hate the taste and I just don't do it like I should. If anyony knows of a good tasting protein shake or good tasting vitamins... please let me know. Thanks everybody for your continued support. Good luck to 'yall.

Just reading your note abt your hospital stay..it really makes you wonder why some people become nurses. It makes as much sense as someone who hates kids becoming a school teacher. Most nurses are wonderful caring people, of course. Others, I'm afraid, identify too well with Nurse Cratchet (sp?) Thanks for sharing your experience. It's an important message for anyone getting ready to go into the hospital. The squeeky wheel gets the grease.

Well it is Saturday.. and I am finally home!! In the past few days I have experienced more pain than ever before in my life. The pain meds work, but that is only when you get them every 3 to 4 hours as prescribed by the doctor. I must say Dr. Zahn and the weight loss staff at St. Lukes's in Phoenix are great people. I love each and every one of them. However, the nursing staff post-surgery was unreal. I went hours and hours without vital checks... there was one time where I had to beg for my pain medicine and it took them 6 hours to get it to me. By then, I was shaking, sweating, and ready to faint because of the pain. It could only be described as pure neglect. A quote from another patient that had surgery on the same day as I was... she begged them to help her get up.. and the finally answered her calls 9 hours later. When they came in the room they asked what is the probelm... just get up. She pleaded for help... and the nurse said... You people come in for this surgery and then just can't do anything for yourselves!! On another occasion another nurse said... quit your crying it doesn't hurt that bad! In my case when I reported the incident to Dr. Zahn about not getting the medicine.. he took care of things right away. He is GREAT! After his talk with the nurses I had my vitals taken every 4 hours, I had my drain tubes emptied, I got my pain medicine on time. It was a tollerable experience after that. Don't let then take advantage of you and speak up.. tell on them and force them to give some compassion. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~` Now that my venting is over... I lost 8lbs in the hospital and I am so happy to be home. I am not eating much at all but I am drinking good. I was in pain because of all of the built us gas/air inside me but finally and with some embarrasment.. it has started to come out. I go to Dr Zahn early next week to have one of my drain tubes out and the other comes out in 4 weeks. I am not sure when I will be back to work.. but for now I am enjoying the time off. Many thanks to: Sharon Manifold-Gons, April Bolejack, & Michele Klosejack... your warm wishes and words of encouragement mean more to me than you know. Tomorrow is my last day of work as a FAT person. I know it is sad to say.. but I have been eating like crazy this weekend. I bought candy, and little debbies and ice cream and etc... :-) I am going out with a bang!!! I think it is more nerves than anything else. I am an emotional eater and my cravings are responding like clockwork. I will update this page with more info tomorrow... let's see how I feel in the morning after all of the sugar this weekend. :-)
