Hi everybody, I hope you haven't forgotten me. I just haven't been on the computer much lately. I went for my three month visit to the Doctor yesterday. He said I was doing real well and I was really pleased. I had lost 23 more lbs. That makes 77lb in 13 weeks. I didn't think I had lost any so that was a nice surprise. I am feeling 100% better. I am able to get behind the wheel of my car and do my own driving and can do my own cleaning. Before surgery I couldn't even walk from one room to the other without having to rest.I have gone from 418lbs to 341lbs in 3 months. I'm going to try to beat Al Roker. Wish me luck. So far I haven't eaten anything that has made me sick and I hope I don't. I'll try to post an update more often.

I know I've been lazy about posting an update about my surgery but I don't sit at the computer much because it makes my feet and legs swell. I went back to the doctor on August 28th for my first visit since surgery. I had lost 33lbs in 3 weeks and 2 days. I was real pleased with that. Dr. Birkitt removed the staples and I had a lot of fluid in behind the staples so he left the incision open to drain. Home health nurse has to come out every day to change the dressing. It is healing well. I saw Dr. Birkitt last Wednesday and he said it was closing really fast. I had lost 5 more lbs. so that's 38lbs in 4 weeks. He said the weight loss would slow down. Hello everyone, sorry it has taken me so long to post an update. I am starting on week three on the losing side. I am doing really well. I'm still on liquids and will be until August 28th, when I go back for my first visit. It has been an experience but I knew it would be. Right now I don't know whether I'm hungry or what. It's just a different feeling. I'll be glad when the liquid part is over cause I would just love to chew something. I don't know how much I've lost because I don't have a scale that I can weigh on. Guess I'll just have to wait until I go back for a checkup. I want to thank everybody for their messages and thoughts and most of all your prayers for me. It really means a lot knowing there is someone out there that knows exactly what you are going through. I want to say a special thanks to Fay Smith for keeping everybody posted and for visiting me and bringing by my cards. She is a really sweet person. THANK YOU FAY. I will write more later. Good luck to everyone that is getting ready to have the surgery and to all that have already had it. Hang in there. Linda

I did not get to go visit Linda again, but she just got to go home today. Linda, welcome to the losers club!!!

I just called Linda (8/7/02 - 1:00 p.m.) She sounded GREAT!! She said her back hurts a little but other than that, she feels pretty good. CONGRATS LINDA!! *hugz* Take care and I am sooooooooo very happy for you. xoxoxoxoxo Kem

~Update~ Linda spent the first night in ICU but is now in room 2022. I went up to see her this morning and she was sitting up in a chair. She says she is pretty sore. Her back has been hurting and she hasn't been able to sleep at night. She is getting up by herself to go to the bathroom and is walking.She is on her clear liquid diet and seems to be doing well with it. She still has her pain pump but didn't seem to be needing it a lot. I printed out her card and took it to her. If anyone wants to call her, the phone to her room is 423-844-2022. Thanks to all for signing her card!
