Southview

"They were horribly understaffed and the nurses that the actual hospital employed, were mostly LPN's and couldn't even provide the majority of my care, so therefore, they had to search the assistance of an RN, which 99.9% of the time were agency nurses. But sad to say the agency nurses were GREAT! The actual staff of Southview seemed dramatically overworked and bitter! The poor nurse' assistance were so understaffed and overworked, that I felt gulity ringing for one. Honestly if I saw an NA, it was only when I had requested one, and then it was always an unusually long time before they could respond! They NEVER offered me any assistance in bathing other then one little girl and she was so worn out that i refused to ask for her help, and told her my sister would help, but then my sister didn't make it in that day, so I went uncleaned that day, and the other days that I did get bathed it was from my family! But to me it the worse experience I ever had in a hospital, and I am, unfortunately, very experienced in hospital stays and this was the WORST!!!!! The 2nd night after my surgery I had called for assistance to the bathroom, and then processed to help get myself up on the side of the bed, waiting for help to the bathroom, well 3 buzzes and 45 minutes later, I had to called and tell them it was either get someone down there ASAP or they were going to be picking me up from the floor!!! Then after I was taken off the PCA, it was ususally a 30 minute to an 1 1/2 hr wait for a nurse, this is not good, you will be in incredible pain, after this surgery and staying on top of it is the key to a successful recovery, but it was nearly impossible to get that there, because the nurses did not response promptly enough! But I must admit, there were a couple of nurses I had that were prompt kind and courteous, and yes they were all agency nurses. Sorry Southview you are in serious need of some staffing advice, good luck in getting it! "

David E. Bruce

"My first impression of Dr. Bruce was mmm so-so,only because he is soft spoken and didn't come in with tons of personality, but believe me he is a very good Dr. and knows exactly what he is doing. His staff is a wealth of information and incredibly helpful and most are personally knowledgable. Very kind and never to busy to talk and answer ANY question. Dr. Bruce is also a very knowlegable and personalble once you get to know him a little better. But I also, really liked Dr. Martin, one of their surgical residence, he is incredibly kind and understanding and is so willing to answer any question and is truly one of the most kind and understanding Dr.'s I've had the pleasure of meeting and dealing with. He is the one I seen and dealt with while I was in the hospital. He never failed to noticed when the hospital was neglecting my care and was prompt to correct it and make me feel at ease about the remaindor of my stay! Very good Dr., and I sincerley hope that with age and experience he does not change, he is wonderful! I think the after-care program has been great and supportive so far. The pre-meeting, I felt Dr. Bruce was very up-front and honest in the complication and risk of the surgery and was willing to answer any question I had. All in all the Bruce Clarey team is an A1#1 team!!!!"
