Well, it’s official! You’re on the losing side. The trumpets are blaring, the cymbals are crashing and the drums are drumming – all for YOU! I hope that all went well for you! You’ve been out of surgery now for a little over a month – YIPPIE!!! Your journey will have moments to “pause” – I’d like to impart some words of wisdom for when it does occur - remember these wise words whispered by Confucius – “It does not matter how slowly you go so long as you do not stop.” Be patient. You didn’t put it on over night, it won’t come off over night (DARN IT!)… RNY 10/31/03 – down 85 pounds!!! Good luck!

Irene, I'm so glad you're doing better. I'm sending best wishes that the rest of your journey doesn't include any big bumps like this one! May God bless you and may you get well quick! Hugs from Linda

Irene is doing so much better. She is sitting up in a recliner and off the vent. They told her that her larnyx could be permanently damaged from being on the vent so long. She sounded very whispery (is that a word?). She's hoping to be in a regular room by tomorrow or Thursday. No word yet on when she will get to go home. She was very nice and I enjoyed meeting her finally. I will update more when I hear more.

I'm still praying, Irene, and I'm SO glad to hear that you've shown a few signs of improvment. Hang in there !!

Irene Emler had surgery on Wednesday February 25. She is still in Lubbock in the hospital. Come to find out she has Lupus and other complications that are causing her to go down in health. She has had a heart attack and yesterday her heart rate dropped again to 30 and they now have her on an external pacemaker. She also has problems with fluid in her lungs and they have her on a kinetic therapy bed and a ventilator. They are keeping her heavily sedated. Things are not looking gfood at all. Please pray or send some good thoughts to our AMOS sister. She really needs it.
