Hi Margaret: Thanks so much for your encouragement to me!! I am going through the fast now. I will keep all posted on how I do! 3 days to go and want to still go through with it. I just heard on Fox news an 800 lb man was taken to the hospital, he has to lose 300 pounds before they can do surgery on him! Katie

Well, here I am just five more days until I go under the knife! I had to have a repeat EKG this morning and see the anesthesiologist. All was well, the first EKG I was told the leads had not been placed correctly!! Here I thought something was wrong because I had a whole quart of Starbucks Java Ice Cream the evening before; it had me so wired that I did not sleep all night long! Never again.... Today, I had to have my last hotdogs, good meet and really quality buns with chile sauce, onions and Doritos! All of a sudden, after eating them, I felt such a heaviness in my stomach....a feeling I have not had in a long time as I have been following the ADA (American Diabetic Association) diet, their "Month of Meals". Five different books, and these can be found at the library, otherwise you can purchase them for $20 ea. I lost 60 pounds from March 22, 2004 til now to make my surgery "easier on me," the doctor said. Anyway with only today and tomorrow to eat and then a four day fast with clear liquids and one protein drink, then two days for the bowel prep, I am set to go!!!! I cannot believe how sweet all you ladies are to fill up my name and info with such well wishes and kind words. I am grateful to have found you and you can call me Katie. Katie in Beautiful Virginia

I wish you a very speedy recovery, and more then that I wish for you to get all of the happiness you deserve from this courageous decision. Hold your head high, you have broken the bonds of pain that have kept you down and have risen above that in order to make your life better. That is a choice not all have the courage to make. And for those of us that have not yet arrived at our date...you are an inspiration. All my positive energy and happiness for you, William "Hope is the companion of power and the mother of success, For those of us who hope strongest have within us the gift of miracles."

Kathleen, congratulations on your upcoming date with the surgeon. Even if along the way you encounter a few bumps in the road; remember, getting to the final destination is definitely worth the ride. May God's hand be upon you and your surgical team. 5/5/03 276/141.5/130 in my dreams
