Hello all, I want to thank you so much for all your kind thoughts and words of encouragement. It really helped a great deal with my decision to move forward. It's been almost 10 weeks since my open RNY and I feel absolutely wonderful. Believe it or not, I hardly felt any pain after surgery. I did use the morphine pump for 1.5 days though, just in case some pain happened to creep up on me. After returning home, I felt weak for 2 weeks and I couldn't really walk much but by the third week, I was out walking and feeling more energetic. I guess the liquid vitamins needed time to kick in. I didn't really need the pain med they sent me home with but it was helpful when I slipped and had some chocolate soy desert and a few days later, clam chowder and a small bite of a cheese roll at a local restaurant. It had only been about 4 weeks post op and I should have known better but I just about passed out. I guess the dumping syndrome really can happen and it's something I have not repeated since. All is fine now, I'm getting used to not having sugary, high fats foods and there's no longer a feeling of deprivation. The best part is that I no longer snore, I can climb the stairs here at work without huffing and I've lost exactly 30 pounds. I am just so, so glad I made the decision. Please feel free to email me with questions. Hugs,Sharon
