Darius Ameri

"<p><h3>Surgeon Information</h3> </p> <p>Dr. Ameri, Stoneham, MA. First appointment: 2/2/01 </p> <p>I liked Dr. Ameri when I met him. He is amiable and courteous, and very knowledgeable about the subject of gastric bypass surgery. </p> <p>He was very thorough in his description of the surgery, how it would affect my eating habits, both by limiting my intake and in regards to malabsorption. </p> <p>I was given lots of information on the surgery itself, and the recovery process, and what will be expected of me. </p> <p>All in all, it was a very thorough & comprehensive visit. I am quite pleased:)</p> <p>Louise is Dr. Ameri's private nurse. She assists him during surgery. As she told me, "just look for the green goggles!"</p> <p>Louise stayed by my side throughout the entire surgery. It was she that held my hand and spoke the Healing Statements I had prepared for her.</p> <p>She was also the first person I saw when I woke up after surgery. It was a very comforting feeling to know I wasn't being shuffled around to different people.</p> <p>Linda is the office manager. An absolute life-saver when it came down to the insurance packet, and last-minute planning. She was and continues to be willing to talk to me on the phone whenever I call, no matter how busy she is at the moment.</p> "

Lawrence Memorial Hospital

"The day of surgery after I was moved to my room, the staff were very much non-existant. Response time to pressing the nurse call button was greater than 20 minutes, getting a glass of water took almost 2 hours. I was not given a spyrometer and shown how to deep breathe, or practice coughing... however having had previous surgeries, I was able to do this on my own. After the catheter was removed, they did not check my fluid output in the bathroom, nor did they check to see if I had voided at all. The highlight of my stay was Narika, a student nurse. She was with me all day on Saturday. She helped me get up and walk, brushed my hair, and made sure that I had everything I needed almost instantly. Had the entire stay been like this, it would have equaled the care I received at Mt. Auburn when I had my bypass. All in all, I would consider this to be an "average" hospital. Sadly, I've had to stay in worse."

Peter Gee

"Dr. Gee is nothing short of a miracle worker! He listened to me for over 4 hours while I discussed what I had been through, and where I hoped to end up. He took all of that information, and tailored my surgery for me specifically. He did a circumferential abdominoplasty to remove the excess skin from the sides. This also helped to pull up the back of my thighs and buttocks as well. The overall impression is that of a CONCAVE! stomach, and a contoured backside. Truly incredible! I am looking forward to going back to Dr. Gee to have my inner medial thighplasty and breast reduction/breast lift done as soon as possible."

Guy Pugh

"Dr. Pugh is nothing short of incredible. Compassionate, caring and knowledgeable. His office is 40minutes from my house, and it is well worth the drive. I've been to other doctor's locally, and there's just no comparison. The Marino Health Center, of which he is part, takes an approach to healthcare that is both holistic and scientific. It is an excellent combination. In my journey towards having WLS, Dr. Pugh took the time to listen to my needs, and voice his concerns about my apparent weight problem. When I asked about his thoughts on the idea of having gastric bypass surgery, he was quite helpful in referring me to local programs. I was his first patient to ever actually go through the surgery, and he has followed me every step of the way, paying close attention to my progress, and learning from everything I did."

Mt. Auburn Hospital

"Staff are excellent! I had a private room, and felt as if I was being waited on hand & foot by a nurse assigned solely to me. Of course that wasn't the case, my nurses had other patients, but they made me feel special, and answered any calls immediately and did not leave me waiting."
