Michael Bell

"I had my first consultation with Dr. Bell on August 15,2001.I had an extremely long wait even though I had an appointment but was told that Dr. Bell had a surgical emergency. My first impression was that he was extremely knowledgable about the surgery and presented a warm friendly manner. He thouroughly explained the surgical procedure and the risk involved. He also gave me a handbook to take home and read which explained the procedure as well as addressing what to expect while in the hospital, eating after surgery and detailed explainations about possible complications. The staff there so far has been very helpful. My appointment had to be changed and they were very prompt with their return calls concerning this.He didn't address after care, I guess because this was my first visit with him, however the material he gave me to read at home addressed this in detail. Dr. Bell has a monthly support group meeting the last Thurs. of the month at 7:00 pm. and he attends that meeting. I think that surgical competence is more important than a pleasant bedside manner but I also feel that a balance of both makes for a better doctor/patient relationship. I have had all of my related consultations now (diet, psych) and will return to see Dr. Bell on Wed. Sept 12. "
