William, Jr. Roll

"My first impression of Dr. Roll was that he is a no-nonsense, lay-the-cards-on-the-table kind of doctor. I appreciated his frankness in telling me I probably wouldn't be around in 15 yrs. or in a wheelchair if I didn't do something about my weight. He was very thorough in explaining the procedure, the benefits, and risks, and reiterated that I would never eat normally again. I was given literature to read. His office staff was very warm and friendly. I learned of Dr. Roll through my boss whose daughter underwent an open RNY just 3 months ago. I read her profile and updates which inspired me. I looked in my insurance's book of providers and there he was! It took me a while to get up the courage to call for an appt. and I would have been able to get in just 2 wks. later. That was just before Christmas and I said it was too soon (I couldn't believe I could get in so soon) My boss' daughter had to wait for months for an appt. I went on January 15th. I would say what I liked least about Dr. Roll is that he doesn't seem the warm, fuzzy type. But that's okay, he is the surgeon, not my best friend. Also, his "talk" seemed somewhat automatic although I'm sure he has given the same "speech" hundreds of times. He told me the hardest part of all this would be the aftercare and learning a new way to eat and no sugar for a year! He stressed that I would be the most important "player on the team" and without my best effort and commitment, it wouldn't be successful. I have the utmost confidence in Dr. Roll and his staff. He told me he had never lost a patient. "
