"Have appointments with both Dr. Drew and Dr. Buchwald. I will choose one of them after meeting them.
I had a very easy time setting up an appointment with Dr. Buchwald. It was not so easy with Dr. Drew, I made at least 5 calls to their office, and seemed to get a lot of run around at first. Having already had a VBG I just wanted to meet with the doctor and talk about a revision, and not have to go to an informational meeting. After talking with Judy Schwartz at Dr. Drew's office who was kind and professional, I will now attend the info meeting.
UPDATE 4/9/00: I saw both surgeons in the last several weeks. I really like Dr. Drew, he took the time I needed to answer my immediate questions. The only negative, was having to wait almost 2 hours past my appointment time to see him. If I have the RNY I will most certainly go to Dr. Drew.
Seeing Dr. Buchwald is a very trying experience at the University Clinic. After waiting sometimes an hour to see him, I got up to about 10 minutes max. to ask him questions. Not to say that he is unexcessible, I wrote him an email asking more questions, and he happily answered my questions in a return phone call about 4 days later. I will go with Dr. Buchwald if I do the Duodenal switch, since he is the only surgeon around this area that can do it. "
