Hi Roberta, I just wanted to respond to your post about being stuck and upset that you are not losing...first of all, you have done FANTASTIC so far!! Be proud of yourself girl! Now, how about this? Whatever exercise you are doing, increase the difficulty. Meaning work harder, not longer. If you are walking, don't walk for another 30 minutes. Instead add an incline, or weights to yor wrists and ankles. Anything to make it more difficult, burn more calories and build muscle. If you're not pouring sweat in the 1st 5 minutes, you're not working hard enough. Add weight training if you are able. This really builds up muscle mass and increase your metabolic rate and tones up the bod as well. ;-) Look closely at what you're eating. I'm not saying that you're cheating because I hate that word. I'm just wondering if a little bit of this and a little bit of that is happening. If so, it can be just enough to keep you 'maintaining' instead of losing. If this is the case, get back to good high quality proteins, non-starchy veggies and salads and tons, and I mean tons of water. This will kick start your weightloss again. Also look at the frequency of your meals. Get back to 3 x a day and maybe an evening snack. That's IT. No noshing all day, OK? And watch the fruit intake right now. They can also slow you down in a big way. Try to stay off all 'low-carb' goodies like puddings, cookies, and ice creams, because most of them have just enough carbs to keep you from losing. They're fine to have once in a while once you get to goal, but you're not quite there yet (BUT you will be, soon!) You can do it, I romise. It just takes time and knowing what works for YOUR body. You GO GIRL!!! And let us know in a week how you are doing. Hugs, Diane N PS I have lots of tips posted on my website. Here's the address...http://www.WeightlossSurgery.ws

Hi Roberta... I can some what explain the emotional roller coaster you are going through.... On May5th 1997, I was rushed into an emergency Hysorectomy... I was 8 months pregnant with twins.... I lost both at birth and I had been hemoraging through out my whole pregnancy, not a heavey hemorage, but yet still hemoraging.... but on May 5th, I was loosing so much blood on the way to the hospital, i filled the front passanger floor board from hemoraging... the next mornin I woke up so depressed and so scared, and felt so alone, and i no longer felt like a whole woman.... Every woman weather it be emergency or non, goes through the emotions, of just what I felt... Try to relaxe, write in a journal what you are feeling, your thoughts, everything... it does help so very much, beleave me I know all to well.... I will keep you in my thoughts a prayers... Walk and Sleep with Angel's for God gives them to us freely, just let them hold you through your trying times as well as the good times.... and Remember, If God brings you to it He will bring you through it! Love of an unknown Friend, Lorie Presley

Roberta-- If you Trust in the Lord, He will see you through this surgery, too. I'll be praying for you, as I know it's not a pleasure to look forward to having surgery--AGAIN!! You're not alone.

Roberta, I am sorry to hear you are needing to have surgery again. I know that I have had enough of them, and yet here I am again planning to have WLS surgery. My theory is if it ain't broke don't fix it, if it is broke, do what you have to do to fix it!! I had a hysterectomy several years ago and like I hear people say about the WLS surgery I have been thankful since then everyday that I do not have that pain and discomfort anymore. My prayers to you for successful surgeries and a speedy recovery!! Brenda

Hi, Roberta! I'm a pre-op, but wanted you to know you're being supported. It must be very frustrating to have your weight loss stop. Has it been a long time? Maybe you've hit a nasty plateau. I've seen some other posts from people on plateaus who have said to vary your exercise routine - try something different. Or maybe try to vary the way you eat - more small meals, or if you're already doing that, just eat 2 or 3 times a day. I don't profess to have the answers, but I certainly wish you well, and continued success!

Roberta, I haven't had surgery yet, so can't fully understand your feelings. However, I do think that my I would be frustrated with the weight loss being considered as slow per WLS standards. I guess that I would try to focus on the fact that I lost a significant amount of weight in a relatively short period of time that will not come back. I have arthritis in weight bearing and non weight bearing joints, and just loosing 20 pounds would make a big difference in my ability to move around. Follow your doctors orders, get your wather in and exercise. Keep up the hard work, as it will pay off in the future. Take care, and please keep posting as you need to! Mari
