"in general, my stay was good. i had made previous arrangements to have a suite like room following my surgery. however, i had to wait 7 hours in the recovery room as there were no rooms available. my family did not get to see me until about 5 1/2 hours after my surgery, and i had to ask that they be allowed to see me in the recovery room. when i did get a room it was semi private with a lady that was in so much pain from some type of surgery that it kept me very upset. i finally got a private room a couple of hours later, and had to share a bathroom with someone, which was very inconvienent. the care i received was excellent, and i would go back to uab."
"dr clements made it very clear that this surgery is for improving one's health. on my first visit, i had a favorable impression of dr clements, and i continue to. his office is very, very busy, and could use more staff. the insurance person changed not long after my first visit. the new person is dewanna. she has been very helpful. his nurse, teresa, who has had the surgery herself several years ago, has also been very helpful. dr. clements has stated that aftercare is most important. he wants a person to know what is what, and if that person is not willing to do what is needed, that they don't need to go ahead with the surgery. he has explained the risks of this surgery to me several times, due to underlying health problems i have. some of which are diabetes, high bp, high cholesterol, coronary artery disease, along with 2 stents in the lad artery. i have just turned 50, and have had these problems for several years. i have been most impressed with dr clements. he makes it clear that this is life-altering surgery."
