HI Everyone, After playing phone tag with Dan I was able to get ahold of him to update on Linda. Wooo Hooo They were able to drain alot of the fluid that she was retaining and I guess they have her hooked up to a pump to keep drawing the fluid out. This has lifted Lindas sprits Alot. They have her on fluids again but she is struggleing to keep them down. And her Dr has told her that she Might be able to Come home Tuesday or Wednesday. WOOOO HOOOOO See I knew that the power of Prayer worked. Christina

Hi Linda, I'm so sorry you're experiencing complications! I experienced complications after my emergency surgery for two obstructions in my small intestines about month after my lap-rny. My second surgery was an 'open.' Anyway, my kidneys kinda shut down, and I was holding about 30 lb of extra fluid. It was total misery! I can say I know how you feel. My kidney's didn't kick in and start really working until I was given HCTZ (a prescription water pill). It only took about 4 to 5 days of taking the medication, then the fluid was gone and my kidney's began functioning normally. From what my surgeon explained, sometimes your inner system goes into what can be described as shock, and shuts down to the minimal level of functioning, and it takes rest, healing, and sometimes help from medications to kick back in. Plus, I'm sure you've been pumped full of fluids----which makes it difficult. Anyway, maybe, this is happening to you also. I hope you'll be feeling better soon. If you want, please write when you get home. Sincerely, Lori Ann

Good Evening all
I have just come home from spending the afternoon visiting Linda. and she is feeling AWFUL. She is in the Why did I ever do this phase and I really hope that she is able to regain her sprit again.
She is retaining Alot of fluid in her abdomon and has gained 28 pounds due to this. Here is a lady whom we couldnt keep in bed when I first visited her and now gets winded walking less then 50 feet. After our walk when she was getting back into bed she squirted (not kidding) alot of fluid from her insision and freaked out I had to go and get the nurse, aparently her screaming wasnt enough for them to come (Dont get me started on her care that is a whole nother story)she goes through almost a whole box of wound dressing before they come in, they put a bigger cover over her wound and order her to bed and put her NPO. She asked to have her Dr Called and insted they send over a Dr in training and he is less then nice. and was curt almost as if she was bothering him telling her that Her surgeon could not be bothered untill they know why she is not putting out urine and swelling up. She wants to be moved to another hospital or at the least another floor, I am praying that she is moved. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers.
