"He was very nice and knowlegeable. He was able to answer all my questions and hear my stories. He was concerned if I was depressed from being overweight. He turned me over to his nurse to learn more about all the pre op testing that would be involved because it was elective surgery. She had the surgery herself three years ago. He was open to what dates I wanted to do the surgery. He has done 125 of the surgeries so far lap. He said the learning curve is at 75 surgeries. He said he would check on me everyday I was in the hospital to make sure I didn't get a blockage. He also mentioned he wanted to see me for many visits after the surgery was over to check in. He told me about the risks and then gave me numerous papers to read with all the risks listed on there. They also gave me a huge booklet of information about what to eat post op and how to recoop from surgery. This booklet is very useful. I will be able to rate him more once I have the surgery and see what type of repoire we build. I think bedside manner and surgical competence are both very important. But I also think nursing staff in the office are important as they are the ones a recent post op would contact with any questions they have in the intial phase after surgery. "
"His exact words to me were. If I had the problem I would want to get the surgery too. He was all for it and gave me names of 3 doctors he knew that did the surgery. He also told me to go home and change into heavier clothes to make me weigh more as then I would have a higher BMI and better chance of the insurance company approving me. "
"I have not had my WLS surgery yet but I did use this plastic surgeon on 3 seperate occassions, 6 years prior to my WLS surgery. The first time was for breast reduction surgery and he did a fabulous job. The 2nd and 3rd times were for liposuction of different body parts. He wasn't on my insurance plan for the liposuctions so I made a cash payment deal with him for these procedures. This price was considerably lower than what he would have charged an insurance company. My insurance did cover my breast reduction surgery and he took insurance only from me for this surgery.
