2 years + 1 day

Nov 20, 2012

Monday November 22 2010 marked the start of a new journey for the better in my life. It was the day in which I had my Gastric by-pass surgery and although there was a bit of pain, unease and temptation, I was successful in losing the undesired weight. I am glad to say that my surgeon and the continuous success of the procedure has allowed my life to be prolonged, specially because I will soon be a father of a little boy. I hope to keep him active and promote health eating, but will make him aware that habits and life of food are dangerous in order for him to desire a health life.

I have yet to lose extra skin around the abdomen area but am not resorting to plastic surgery yet. I hope with time to work-out enough and rather save the money to take my son to a theme park when he get's older. Nice thing about it is that I will live long enough to raise him and future children, but will make them aware of my past overweight life.

Good luck to you all...and I hope we all together celebrate many post gastric bypass years!!!!!!

7 months

Jun 21, 2011

It has been just a little over 7 months since my life changing surgery. I feel great and continue on loosing weight. According to my last doctor's visit, my vitamin, calcium, and B-12 levels look normal. I have purchased smaller size jeans but still can not get it trhough my mind that I have lost to much weight. At times I do not feel self confident and feel as if I was my old size again, and it therefore takes reminders and my image on the mirror to realize that I have changed for the good. On 061811 my wife and I attended the Quinceanera of a family member, and I enjoyed the surprised looks of family members who had not seen me since I was big. They asked questionsa and I was glad to answers...and received many positive responses towards my decision. Only a few acquaintances indicated that they were used to seing me in my plus size, and therefore definately did not look the same. I was also surprised that many would not recognize me until I introduced my self, or had someone else do the introduction. Well, that's all for now and good luck to everyone out there!!!!

Less and Less

Feb 22, 2011

Hello to everyone in the weight loss community.
Just wanted to share with everyone that this morning I weighed my self, and for some reason did not expect to see change on the scale...but I did. As of today my weight is 212lb, which is 100lbs less compared to my heviest I was ever which was at 312. I keep on dedicating to working out daily and eating appropriately which is what I attribute to my success. My change in appearance is acknowledge often and it feels good to know that reaching my desired weight is a goal in progress.

Also wanted to include that yesterday I took two trash bags full of clothes to Goodwill and now only own three pais of jeans and much lss shirts. I found that I have many new 2XL shirts inmy closet and have to re-gift them to others, but I also found an etire drawer of shirts that now look good and a bit loose on me. I am loving my progress and hope everyone is doing well.

Inspirator

Jan 27, 2011

Hello Everyone,

I weighed my self yesterday...and am proud to announce that I have gotten rid of 79 HEAVY pounds since I begun the voyage to surgery. I want to share a short experience that I had just an hour ago. Since I returned to work I have packed my lunch for work every night, but I orversaw it last night and was starving by the time noon came around. I decided to walk down the street to a lunch truck and purchased a single beef taco, which was perfect as the meat was not grease and I requested for the tortilla to be warmed and not heated in oil. The caterer told me that I looked thinner and asked if I was ok. I continued to tell her about my experience, and while I started to wait for my food a person approached me from behind and told me that he had listened to the conversation. He stood at least 6 inches taller than myself and is a heavy set man. He continued to say that he had tried working out every day and dieting, but has not been able to put off the weight and was recently diagnosed with diabetes. I told him about the better life ahead after surgery, and told him that although it may be though to not be able to eat all you want, we will live longer after all. He told me that I inspired him and thanked me for sharing my experience, and indicated that he would look into it as he needs a change of life. I told him about this site, and refered him to look into cases that had and continue on having success. I felt good and hope he makes the right choice!

Just One Week

Nov 15, 2010

In one week I will be in the hospital for my surgery. I am anxious, but for the mean time the OPTIFAST has become more undesirable with each day that passes. I have remained strong, and hope that I complete all of the reuirements when I take the pre-op test.
