Lost my dear companion, Mikey, to congenital heart problem, on November 8.  He was a gentle little Chi that loved his soft beds, which were numerous throughout the house.  My sister bought me two Shi's; however, I just don't seem to be able to bond with them.

So far, I've lost 202 lbs.  Need to lose another 35 lbs.

It's been a while since I've updated my profile and I have some good news.

So far, I've lost a whopping bunch of lbs.  I'm no longer on Diabetes med (no insulin or oral meds).  My blood sugar stablized about 8 weeks post surgery.  I still have to take a reduced dose of high blood med. 

Although my heart & spirit wants to get out and be more active, my knees tell us otherwise.  Still have approx. 75 lbs. to go before I can have knee surgery.

Although it's been almost 8 months, it's still a struggle to get all my vitamins, liquids & protein in each day.  Still not able to eat a broader variety of foods, so I'm pretty much eating the same foods today as I was on month 2.  BORING!!!!

Anyway, all of this is still better than it used to be.  My favorite expression is "it's better than a stick in the eye!"

Stall over, lost 5 lbs yesterday. 

The first three weeks of post-surgery, I lost 39 lbs.  I am feeling a little disjointed.  Can't seem to get in all my water & protein.  However, now that I've gotten those two problems solved, I've hit a two-week stall.  On top of that, I've gained six lbs. of water due to a major kidney infection.  Can't take diurectics because of the infection.

2/20/08 - I was a high risk patient going in and that didn't change.  The procedure was a success; however, due to the pre-existing health problems, I had some major complications.  Dr. Daly and the INCREDIBLE staff at NSH 4 Central literally pulled the "fat" from the fire.  Because of the complications, I stayed three extra days in the hospital.  Am doing better now.  I'm on soft foods now and I haven't had any of the usual nausea, stomach pain, etc. 

RNY tomorrow at 7:30 a.m.  I dread this with every fiber of my being.  I fell in the kitchen yesterday and sprained my good knee (my left one), making mobility even more difficult.  So I'm sure this is going to exacerbate an already difficult hospital experience.  I also dread the changes that will be required of me.  I am in such constant pain that even the slightest change in routine is a nightmare.  After the RNY I will not be able to take NSAID's for the arthritis; I'm not sure what to do.  Most doctors do not favor long-term pain pills and Tylenol just doesn't dull the pain enough.  In addition, I have to lose at least 200 lbs. before knee surgery is even considered.  That much weight loss may take several years.  Life just gets better and better! 

1/18 - Met with surgeon and pre-admission process today as scheduled.  Everything's going as planned, so this is IT!!!  I have to be at the hospital at 5:30 a.m., surgery at 7:30 a.m.  Because of the drive time to hospital, I will probably have to get up at 2 a.m.  Guess I better go to bed around 8 p.m. the night before. 

I meet with my surgeon and anesthesiologist Friday (1/18) to complete the preadmission process.  I'm anxious to get it all over with.  I've been reading all the blogs and comments of other members, which have been very helpful.

My WLS is scheduled for February 6.  I can't believe that it's finally going to happen!
