Today is the first day of my liquid diet! So far so good. This diet is going to really test my willpower towards foods. I have a feeling in the next few weeks, I will realize how much i depended on food for comfort.

I am very nervous to have the scope. I hope that they put me to sleep. I don't want to know that I am having a camera pushed down my throat.

I got my surgery date! I am to have my pre-surgical physical exam with Dr.Saber on June 1, 2009. I also will need to have laboratory work done too.  On Wednesday, June 10, 2009 I have to go in for a pre-op EGD. My surgery date is June 16, 2009 @ 7:30 in the morning. I am so excited (and nervous).

I went to the heart doctor today for the follow up from my stress test. I was so nervous to find out the results. When I was called back into the office, the nurse weighed me, and to my surprise, I lost six pounds! Then they put me into the second waiting room. Dr. Tan came in and said, "I am going to clear you for Surgery'." I am so happy, and  excited to find out that my heart is in good shape still. Dr. Tan was my last doctor that I needed to get a clearance from. Now I just wait until Dr. Saber's office sets up my appointment.

I went for my heart check-up with Dr. Gregerio Tan. He says that only thing he requires to pass his screening is to complete a stress test. My EKG was not a storybook reading, so he made me do a stress test by injecting meds through an IV to speed up my heart. It was the worst 4 minutes of my life. I was so sick, but they said that was normal for many people. I am waiting for the clearance by him. My next appointment is on 4/21/09 which I will receive the results. Hoping for the best. If he clears me, Dr. Saber's office will send in my proofs to the insurance company, and we will began the wait for the okay of surgery.

After going to the free information meeting, I was able to get an appointment with Dr. Saber in Kalamazoo MI. I talked with him and the staff about all my options. My BMI was at 61 and the doctor said that Lap-band would not be good for me because I weighted too much, but in fact the sleeve would be a good option. BCBS my insurance company has a criteria that needs to be met before they pay for surgery. Because my BMI is over 49.5, Insurance is going to pay for my surgery without the proof of the six month attempts of dieting. It is a requirement to have a physiological evaluation done, which I already got the clearance.
