Alex Gandsas

"Dr. Gandsas is a very compassionate person. When I went into his office looking to speak to his nurse, and she was in a meeting, he came out into the hallway and talked to me directly. He probably takes more precautions than any other surgeon I have ever seen, but he does this in the best interest of his patients. He is humerous and really down to earth. He seems to care about his patients on an emotional level as well as physical. I am glad I went to him for my surgery. I only regret that he was in Vegas at a seminar when I was re-hospitalized. "

Karen Likins

C. Christopher Allen

University Of Kentucky Medical Center

"With the exception of a few minor gliches, I feel the care I received and attention given was excellent. I want to emphasize that you do need to educate yourself beforehand about your procedure and follow-up diet. Since the Bariatric Surgery program is relatively new to UK, some departments were not well enough informed about what foods, meds., etc...the patients were/were not allowed to have post-RNY. I feel assured the problem has been addressed and will not be an issue in the future. Another wonderful thing about UK is that the Bariatric Surgery Patients are placed in the Markey Cancer Center (if at all possible) where some of the best nurses and techs. are. I would choose UK again."

Barbara Phillips

"She didn't require that I see her prior to my sleep study. She let my surgeon order it. My sleep study was fine which would have saved me an office visit with her, but my surgeon wanted me to see her as a technicality. I appreciate how she is willing to have your test results the day of the visit so you don't have to pay for two office visits. "
