I've been heavy all my life, but I guess I've "bottomed out" now at 271 lbs. Gotta do something cause I want to be around for a long time. So I made up my mind to have WLS. My wife of one year Joyce has a date for surgery of Nov.7,2005 with Dr. Lautz. I talked to him and if everything goes right, I will have a date for surgery when I consult with him on 10/27/05.
Just got my surgery date! Dec. 19. Gotta do the usual stuff now and wait for the insurance.
Done with the "usual stuff" today (11/22/05) now just waitin' on Blue Cross-BS. PS. Joyce is doing fine,2weeks post-op,down 32 lbs. WAY TO GO HONEY!!!!!!! My turn soon.
12/07/05- I'm good to go and ready to launch! Got my approval today! YIPPPPEEEEEEE. Dec. 19 Here I come!
12/28/05- 9 days post-op and feeling pretty decent. Can't believe how hard it is to drink down a CIB though! Had a real uneventful surgery- everything went well. Great nursing staff at Brigham and Womens's Hosp. Thanks to them and thanks to DR. Lautz for a great job. Mostly, thanks to my wonderful wife Joyce, who was with me every step of the way making sure I got the best care in the world. She means the world to me.
Now the rest is up to me!

01/26/06 Down to 236lbs today!!!! Broke through a stall period a couple of weeks ago and seem to be moving along. Found out last week what happens when you don't chew thoughly enough- wow did I feel like I was dying-won't do that again!!

02/12/06 Finally down to 231! Sure is movin' slow. Argggggh!
09/13/06 Been a while. Down to 175 lbs. now. Losin' a little bit here, a little bit there. hope to lose another 10 or 15 lbs. before it's all over. Almost 9 months out. Thank God I have my wonderful partner in WLS, Joyce for support and encouragement. She makes it all worth while.

Been on this journey over two years now. Hangin' in around 160. Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think I would weigh 160. I can't remember when I weighed this, must have been somewhere around the 10th grade. Now I must be diligent in my fight to stay at this weight. Once again I'm glad I have my partner, best friend, wife, and fellow WLS'er Joyce to help me. She makes it all worthwhile. Thank you Honey.
