I have been married for 32 years and have 3 grown sons. I am approved for lap RNY and just got my cardiology clearance. When my PCP gets back in town Monday, I should get my medical clearance and then I can set my surgery date. I can't wait.

My doctor's office called and set my surgery date. I still have to go to my PCP this Friday for medical clearance.

I saw my PCP today for medical clearance. She wants me to stop 2 of my meds one week before surgery, Plaquenil and Ultram. That will increase my arthritis pain. I will have my preop visit with my surgeon on Tuesday. I go to a nutrition teaching class on Wednesday to find out what I have to eat after surgery.

I went for my preop visit with my surgeon. I really like him. He is so experienced and I am confident that I chose the best doctor. My husband also went and he really thought he was great.

I went to my teaching class today. It was great. There are usually about 4 or 5 patients in each class, but I was the only one. It was great to have a one on one with the RN that taught the class. It lasted about 2 1/2 hours and she covered everything from admittance to hospital stay, to nutrition after the surgery. She told me what food and vitamins to buy for after the surgery. I really enjoyed the class.

My surgery was today and everything went well, except the nurses had problems starting an IV. I have very bad veins and I knew there would be a problem.

Since my surgery, I have to take one Nexium every morning and Carafate 4 times a day. I am on clear liquids until 10/6/04. I have not had to take any pain pills since I got home from the hospital. This is amazing since I am a big baby when it comes to pain.

I haven't updated in a long time. I am 2 years out from surgery. It is the best thing that I ever did for myself. I have lost 160 lbs and have not gained any weight since surgery. I have stopped losing but I would like to lose another 10 lbs. If I have a tummy tuck, I probably won't need to lose anymore weight. I have about 10 lbs of skin on my belly. Everyone tells me that I am too skinny. I am very strict about not eating bad things. I have never had anything with sugar since surgery, no cookies, no cake, no candy. My pouch seems like it is still very small. I get full very fast. Also my stoma is still small. I can't drink water fast, I still have to sip.
