Happy 40th birthday to me. WOW! I cannot believe it! I sure don't feel like 40! I actually look and feel better about myself at 40 than I did at 20 or 30!! Things are going great! I thank God every day for WLS!! Take care!
7/7/05 **2 Year Anniversary**
WOW! 2 years? Amazing! Sure doesn't seem like it!! Life is good. I have had time to reflect on the past 2 years and how much my life has changed. I have GAINED about 10 pounds and am a little nervous about that. I was expecting the "bounce back" of 10 or so pounds. I have a wonderful man in my life. I have a great 13 year old daughter. I can truly say life is good! Take care!
5/28/05
22 month update. Just out living life on my new 2005 Harley Davidson Softail Night Train! Whoo hoo! Biker Babe! I never thought I would EVER get on a motorcycle let alone OWN a Harley! This surgery is truly life changing!!!
4/13/05
21 month update. Weight has stayed the same. Not much new to report. Life is great! Just out there enjoying life (finally)! Good luck to everyone wherever you are on this journey!!
2/7/05
19 month update. Weight has stayed the same-129 pounds. BMI 23.6. Just back to work after my tummy tuck. There was only about 2-3 pounds of skin. Dr. Lacey said he should have measured it in yards vs. pounds. He said I was too thin. (Who is he talking to???) Very little fat layer around my belly so no lipo was needed. Had a few issues with the drainage site the second week that put me in the ER. But all in all not too much pain. Tolerated well with percocet. It is SO nice to look down and see a flat tummy. Still have some swelling. The binder will stay on for 6 weeks. I am expecting to go down one pant size. The new belly button looks great too! Can’t WAIT to get that pierced!! What a ride this has been! I thank God every day for WLS!!!
1/13/05
18 month update. Weight has stayed the same. At this point I am not trying to lose anymore weight. I would, however, like to start weight training and tone what I do have left! I am going in for my tummy tuck on Jan 18th. Dr. Lacey thinks there is probably 6-8 pounds of skin/fat that will be removed. NOT looking forward to having drain tubes (UCK!) But, it will all be worth it to FINALLY get rid of this apron of skin!! I am planning on being out for 3 weeks recovering. This has been such an amazing journey!
11/15/04
16 month update. Weight today 129. BMI 23.6!! 129 pounds lost. Finally in the "normal" column on the BMI charts!! It's strange to walk into a store and actually look for a size 4! That in itself is truly amazing!!! I have never experienced anything like this before!! Like I said, I would do this again in a heartbeat.
10/19/04
WOW! It's been a long time since I have posted!! YIKES!! Well, let's see. I think I am done losing. I go up and down the same 4 pounds so I guess I'm pretty "normal" now! HA HA! I am 3 weeks out from my breast lift/implants. I went back to work after 1 week but probably could have taken a few extra days off! It felt like a pulled muscle (duh! That's where they put the implants) and a really heavy feeling while bending over! But, it was all worth it to have the "girls" back up where they are suppose to be! All paid out of pocket. Well, my 5 year relationship with my boyfriend has ended. Partly because of him, partly because of me and partly because of this surgery. This surgery gives you so much that you never thought you had before. I am truly happy for once in my life. This was the best thing I could do for myself. You find yourself deserving more. Not settling for things like you did when you were overweight.
To everyone wherever you are on this journey! Good luck! Hang in there! It is SO worth it!
8/20/04
Weight today: 136. BMI: 24.9 122 pounds lost since surgery on 7/7/03. I am within the "normal" BMI range. Whoo hoo! Wearing between a 4-6 depending on brand. Never thought I'd see single digit sizes again in this lifetime!!! I met with a wonderful plastic surgeon (Dr. Lacey) regarding a tummy tuck and breast lift/implants. The lift/implants is scheduled for Sept. 28th! The PS did submit the request for the TT (approximately 6 pounds of excess skin) but I'm sure I will be paying out of pocket for that too. Total cost of all PS $12,100.00. Small price to pay to feel "normal"! Good luck to everyone wherever they are on this incredible journey!!
7/7/04
**ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY** WOW! What a difference a year makes! Down 120 pounds! This has truly been an incredible journey! Weight today: 140. Only 3 pounds away from a "normal" BMI instead of "overweight"! Whoo hoo!!
Take Care!
6/7/04
11 month update. Well. No change on the scale this month. :( Hummm. Just a little disappointed in myself. I need to really get into a routine with exercise!! I know that is the key! I'm still struggling to get in all my water so I have to work on that too! I did lose 2 more inches this month so I have to concentrate on that!! Weight today 143. BMI 26.2 Hope to report a LOSS next month! Take Care!
5/7/04
10 month update. Uh oh. Only 1 pound lost this month. Not too happy about that! But, I did lose 4 inches so I know I'm losing. I shouldn't be so concentrated on the scale. I know I'm more healthy!! Weight today 143. BMI 26.2 Wearing a size 8! Single digits? I NEVER thought I'd see those numbers again! For everyone fighting their insurance co, hang in there! It's SO worth it! Take care!
4/7/04
9 month update!! I am officially in the century club! 114 pounds lost! Whoo hoo!! To celebrate, I am getting a tattoo tomorrow!! Weight today: 144. BMI: 26.3. Only 18 more to my personal goal of 126. I just sent in my before and after pictures. I do not recognize my "before" picture. I have both pictures on my desk so when I get down on myself, I have it to remind me how far I've come. This surgery is incredible! I am having the best time of my life! Life is good! God Bless WLS!!! Good luck to everyone, wherever you are on this journey!
3/7/04
8 month update!! Down 96 pounds. Loss of only 5 pounds this month. Weight today: 152. I'm wearing a size 12-10 depending on brand name. I'm SOOOOO close to the century mark I can TASTE it!! Just this past month I have become lactose intolerant! This is truly amazing! Take Care!
2/7/04
7 month update! Down 91 pounds! Weight today: 157. This surgery is truly amazing! My hair is still falling out. I can tell how thin it is but others probably don't. I am 31 pounds from my goal weight of 126 and only 9 pounds from the century mark! I am getting my before and after pictures ready! I have never regretted my decision for this surgery! Take care!
1/6/04
Happy New Year! Wow! 6 months! It doesn't seem like it's been 6 months now! Down 10 more pounds this month. That puts my total loss at 83 pounds! Only 35 more pounds to goal! WOW! My hair is STILL falling out. Not as much. Still trying to get in all my water and working on an exercise plan. This surgery has totally changed my life. I am SO much happier. God Bless WLS! Take care!
12/7/03
5 months? Where does the time go?? Down 73 pounds! Hair is still falling out! We baked Christmas cookies this weekend! It was SO hard NOT to try one or even lick my fingers! Sugar is still a demon for me! The only thing holding me back is that I get VERY sick from even a very small amount of sugar! I love the phrase....Nothing tastes as good as thin feels! Take care!
11/7/03
WOW! 4 months now! 65 pounds lost! whoo hoo! My hair is now falling out EVERYWHERE!! Still have a long way before going bald, but come on! YIKES! Still working on getting in all my water. Have cut WAY down on carbs. Protein, protein, protein. I am now OVER 1/2 way to my goal weight!! God Bless WLS!!!
10/7/03
It's been 3 months. I've slowed with my weight loss. Total of 53 pounds. Of course, I would have liked to have lost more....but I'll take it!!!
9/9/03
Just a quick update. It's been 2 months now. I have lost a total of 48 pounds. I hit my first plateau and it stuck for 2 weeks! Grrrr. With the introduction of extra protein and exercise, the scale started moving again! (Yea!) I am putting the scale away and only weighing once a month on the anniversary of my surgery date.
Take Care!
8/18/03
Just back to work after 6 weeks of recovery! 37 pounds lighter too! Surgery went well. No complications! Would do it again in a heartbeat!
Take care!
7/2/03
Just back from my pre-op. 5 days and a wake up! I have to be to at the hospital at 6:00 am Monday morning!! Take care! I will see you all on the other side!
6/24/03
Less than 2 weeks and a wake up! It seems like it took forever to get here! Now it's right around the corner. I am not nervous or scared. I'm sure I will be on surgery day! I know it will all be in God's hands. My boyfriend's Mom died suddenly of a massive heart attack on Friday, June 13th (she was 4'11" & 105 lbs) She was only 48 years young. So that has got me thinking about my own mortality. Still, it will not stop me from having surgery. Now I know I have at least one guardian angel watching over me!
5/26/03
6 weeks and counting! I can't wait! Just working on my top 10 of things to do after losing weight!!
Take Care! Jill

Hi! I am 37 years old. I am divorced with one 11 year old daughter named Hannah. I have been overweight my entire adult life. I am 5'2 and weigh 258. BMI: 45.4 I have been on every diet there is and have lost the weight only to re-gain all the weight back plus MORE. I found this website about 3 months ago and it has been a huge source of information for me. I have been battling the insurance company for over a year before it finally became a covered benefit and I was approved! Whoo hoo! My surgery is scheduled for July 7th, 2003. I can't WAIT to be on the other side and become a LOSER!
