2mo's and 1 week out
Jul 15, 2008
I went shopping over the week end. I started at size 22. I bought size 16. I got slacks, skirt and a new shirt, AND 3 pairs of shoes. It was a great day. My husband took me to Nordstrom and treated me like a queen.
I have had many nice compliments on how great I look. I am thankful to be losing well and feeling great and getting on with my life. As of today I am down 49 pounds. I started at 242 and am now 193. YAY for me!

My first day back to work was yesterday. I took 2 weeks off. I did great. I worked all day. I work for an Oral Surgeon and I am his Implant treatment coordinator/surg asst. I sit at a desk for a good period of time but am also up running around and seeing patients. I felt really good but by the end of day I was getting a liitle tired and I was sore on the left side by the time I got in the car to come home.
Today at work was kind of a wow moment for me. I am down 24 pounds today. Averaging a pound a day. I walked by a mirror and usually I want to avoid them but this time it caught my eye. I am noticing that my face is looking much thinner and I am starting to look like the face I remember.WOW! I still have 90 pounds to go but WOW! What a differance 24 pounds make. My scrubs (SZ XXL) are starting to get roomie. When I sit down they don't pull real tight around my mid section nearly cutting off my ability to take a breath anymore. I would think in another couple of weeks I will not be able to wear them anymore.
I am really looking forward to getting rid of clothes as I grow out of them. We have some nice resale shops and consignment shops in and around Dallas. I think I will go that route for things as needed. I cannot wait to go shopping for the first time.
I am so glad I had this surgery. Fortunantly I have done very well with sugery, post op and being able to eat. So far I haven't had any nausea or vomiting and everything I eat has agreed with my pouch. I am very careful too not over eat. I have a satisfied feeling most of the time. I guess you could call it comfortably full.
I have a shake for breafast (Nectar or Max Protein) , Lunch,Dinner and I drink one of the Zero Carb Isopure bottles a day. I am not sure about a snack. From what my NUT told me she wants me to use my protein supp's as a snack and so far thats been fine. I am not hungry between meals. I should probably be having "breakfast" though. I need to go back and read my eating instruction sheet yet again....
Overall things are on track and life is good!

I also do A afternoon shake. So I think overall I am getting a pretty good amount of protein and sipping water all the time. Just not right before/after eating.
I have also has Cream of Wheat w/a drop of Maple Extract (Made thin w/Skim Milk) That was pretty good. Hard to tell when your full right now. I know that will come as I add more dense Protein. It feels good to know I am on my way to a better me.

Dr. Nicholson was running a little behind with 2 surgeries ahead of me.
I was sch for a 11:30 and didn't go back until 2:30.My husband and I watched "Christine" (Steven King) It's just what happened to be on.
The dr came in to let me know what to expect and then the anesth...came in and stard a little Versed in my IV. I kissed hubby goodbye . I remember getting into the OR and the anesth..putting oxygen over my nose and thats it. I woke up in recovery. My eyes were very heavy and I was very sleepy.Hubby said the surgery took about 2 hours and then in recovery for a couple mor hours. I got in my room about 7:00.
I had a ON Q anesthetic delivery pump in the lower left side of tummy and another pump that I could push for Morphine @10 min's. By the next morning I was asking for Liquid Lotab. That helped the most. The Morphine was making me itchy so I took Benidryl also. The worst thing so far is once I got home the GAS started in and I have been battling that.
No real appetite. I drink my water and walk as much as I can. And I am taking Mallox and Pepcid for the gas. I am finally passing a little.
I can't wait to get back on my feat where I feel like going to the YMCA.
My whole surgery experience was great...post op is day by day. I am happy and thankfull to have had the opportunity to have this surgery. I am going to do all I can and then some to make this work for me. Mind set is the key.My family is the other driving force. Without them I wouldn't be able to get throughthese challenging times.

I go back for Nutrition Consultation on 4-29-08. I am actually looking forward to that part. I have alot of ?'s as far as what type of foods etc...drinks and so on. I really think I can do this. I am in the mind set to "Get it on". I am a bit competative and that is going to help me.
I had twins 3 1/2 years ago and while in the hospital I was nursing almost constantly. My Dr came in and said I was the "Poster Mom" for nursing twins. I had those babies on each side propped and ready to nurish.
I have always approached medicine and anything that I needed to go through with this type of thought pattern."Just bring it on".
I am planning to get through this 1 day at a time and I hope on my down days I will pull from my families strength to get me through. I have a wonderful support with my husband and 4 kids.
