I spoke to Leah F this afternoon, and she's hanging in there. She's having a lot of gas pain, but is walking as much as she can. It's day 3, and she gets a shower today! I remember how excited that made me! (but I missed having my back scrubber!) I asked her if she'd heard whether she'll be going home tomorrow or not, and she said they hadn't said anything about it yet. Her DH, Darryl, is staying in a hotel room near the hospital, and is spending as much time as possible with her. Though usually the rooms are semi-private, she said she's had no room mate since she's been there, and she's seen very few patients (wls) since she's been in the the halls walking. She said she appreciates the calls, and well wishes, and says "Hi!" to everyone. Diane

Hi, Wanted to let everyone know that Leah F had made her transition to the Losing Side. Her surgery was yesterday at Scripps Mercy in San Diego. Her surgery took a bit longer than usual, do to a complication, and she was JUST going into recovery when I got there a little after 4pm, and since I had to be at a 6pm meeting, I didn't get to see her yesterday, but I DID talk to her DH Darryl, and gave him the flowers I'd brought to give her. I spoke to her this morning, and she said that during the surgery they'd found her spleen was stuck to her stomach, and the reason the surgery took longer was because they had to stop the bleeding of the spleen. But she's doing fine, and has been up to walk 3 times already, just got her first cup of ice chips, and is in excellent spirits! I'm sure she'd welcome a few calls of encouragement. Contact me by email for her room number. Be sure to post notes of encouragement, too!
