Hi everyone...sorry I haven't posted here in a few days....I have been to see Dena every day. She was in alot of pain for the first 2 days or so...they changed the pain meds and she is more awake and level-headed then she was! She is going home today (7/10) and is greatful for that! She passed her leak test and is doing well. They finally moved her out of SICU lastnight. She is going to be staying with her parents for the next week and I am hoping to get down there to see her!

Hello Gang! Well....my wings have been a flapping this morning. I arrived at St. Peters this morning at 8:10am and found Dena's hubby and mom and dad in the cafeteria eating breakfast. We hung out there till about 9:30-10:00 and then proceeded back down to the surgical waiting area. Mike (Dena's husband) told me that Dr. Brolin took her in at 7:44am and told them she would be done in about two hours or two hours and 15 minutes barring no complications....Well, believe it or not...at exactly 10:15am Dr. Brolin came into the surgical waiting area and spoke with us....Everything went fine and she was in recovery and we would be able to see her in 1-2 hours. AH....a big sigh of relief came from all of us. Well, about 11:15 a nurse came and told us that she would be ready for her room in SICU in about an hour. 12:30 came and the nurse came back in and told us that Dena was in ALOT of pain and was given something for it and they would move her in 1/2 hour. Finally, she was moved up to SICU at around 1:30....we all couldn't fit in the elevator but I did see her as we waited for the elevator .... she was extremely tired and half asleep....no respirator only her oxygen mask. We followed her up to SICU and waited outside for about another 30 minutes before we were allowed in. She was sleeping and briefly woke up for about 10-15 seconds when I held her hand and I asked if she was in pain and she mumbled yes. She dozed back off. We left and then I came right home (after picking up my kiddies) She is in room 5024 in SICU but I think it would be best for anyone wanting to visit her to either go tomorrow night or Saturday. Her mom is a sweetie and was SO worried....Mike was glad that I was there to explain things to her. She started crying when they took her up in the elevator to SICU. What a great mommy she has!! Well, I will go and see her tomorrow afternoon since she has me listed as her sister. I'll keep you updated. Jessica ~ Dena's "Angel"
