Dear Lillian,
It is August 27th. I went back to my doctor today. I have lost 19 lbs. Here is the story. I got to the hospital at 10:30 as told. The first thing I hear is that I have no insurance. What a joke!!! The devil is on my case big time. I know the problem and it is solved. Can you say computer glitch? Anyway, soon I am called back to pre-surg and I am ready for O.R. My family and friends come back to see me. The doctor comes in and tells my husband how he will be contacted after surgery and the aniest(Spelling???) comes in to drug me. I start not being able to breathe but they realiaze I am flat on the table. They sit me up and I guess they shoot some good stuff in my I.V. because I never even saw the operating room. The next thing I know is I am in the recovery room. It is around eight o'clock. I get a shot for pain. No morphine pump for LAP RNY people. But the shots are fine. My family comes in and I sleep again. The lung doctor comes by FINALLY and releases me to my room. My daughter is there and she gives me a bed bath and a fresh gown. How wonderful!! She cares for me through the night and the next day.
The next morning, they say time to get up and walk. I just sat up and was ready and they were so surprised. I took off to walk and they said, "Wait the I. V. has to come, too." They called me
Speedy. I forgot to tell you that I had my gall bladder out. It was full of stones. I had no ng tube but a urine cath and a drainage tube for the gall bladder. It was infected. I was doing so good on clear liquids that I got to move to food the third day. When I picked up the tray, I thought I would get clear liquids but there were grits and eggs and baby applesause. I went nuts. They laughed at me. The next day I came home. By the fifth day, my drainage tube was badly infected. I went back to the doctor(an assoc.mine was out) and he removed the tube. PRAISE GOD!!! I have been on antibiotic for a week. I have been eating baby food all this time except for breakfast. I went back to doctor today and he wants another round of antibiotic. I came home and ate mashed potatoes and salsbury steak. Very finely mashed and cut up. I am in heaven.
I see that you have had several difficulties. But the day will come when you will be eating. i am so proud of your weight loss. Please keep in touch. Love, Gena from Alabama.
