Hello Cynthia, I'm having surgery on 12-10 at St. Vincent by Dr. Kaderabek. I'm scared too, but I can't imagine wasting anymore of my life being this heavy and uncomfortable. I'll kick myself in the butt if I don't go thru with it. I hope to see you at the hospital on 12-11.

Cynthia, Haven't heard how you are doing. I hope you have decided to proceed. When I think of the "worst" that can happen, I always remind myself of the worst that "will" happen if I don't have the surgery. I don't know if you are a person of faith, but if you are, trust in God that he will bring you through. Ask him to distil your fears and give you peace. God Bless you in what ever you decide

cynthia, I too am 5'1 and weigh 267 i am 9 years older then you but i encourage to think carefully about your decision i have seen my weight at 238 at 35 years old it has done nothing but crep upwards with many affects to my health arthitis,peripheral edema,plantar fasicitis,thyroid and hormone problems and depression and anxiety, I am very anxious about surgery but feel this is my only tool left to help me regain my health and to ensure that i might have a better quality of life and be around to see my children grow-up and see my grandchildren i have surgery 11-29-01 just seven days away so pray for me and i will pray for you god bless you and please remember some amount of anxiety and anticipation almost always accompanies surgery god bless you terri

Cynthia, only you can decide to have this surgery! That being said, I think you will find that it is the best decision that you could make for yourself! My surgery was 8/28/01 and I have no regrets. I'm down 50 pounds in less than 3 months and am now out of the morbidly obese category forever!! Don't be scared -- do whatever you need to do to calm yourself. I listened to healing CDs before my surgery and even during my surgery (I took my Walkman into surgery). They helped me to stay calm and focused. Just do what works for you! Congrats on getting this far! You can do it!

Cynthia, good luck on your surgery. I am having surgery with Dr Huse on 12/11 also. Hope we both have uneventful surgeries. See you on the in the hall....
