HMMM? Going to far! Yes, I'd say that. It sounds like she did a VERY complete psych eval. I might be concerned about your dysthymia, but you are currently seeing a therapist and will continue to do so. We all use food as our "addiction" and for comfort. That's part of our disease. However, I believe there are some psychaiatrists and psychologists (therapists too) that believe that we need BEHAVIOR TRAINING instead of WLS. I, myself, tried OA and found it not for me. I'm not a 12 stepper. I needed to work on my denial and why and when I ate. Finding our what comfort the food was giving me and what I was denying was key to my process.
Anyway, you may want to get another referral if you can afford it. Not many psychaiatrists specialize in WLS. Maybe your therapist can recommend one.
