I spoke to the hospital this morning and they told me that Joe was discharged on 5/17. I am hoping that this will be his last time in the hospital so he can start to enjoy some of the benfits of the surgery instead of all the complications. We are praying for ya Joe.....Get well soon!

I went to the monthly weight loss meeting last Wednesday night and I checked with the hospital to see if Joe was still in there. They said he was and he was doing okay. I haven't tried to call because I have been really busy and when I get a break, it's too late to call. I will try calling tomorrow to see how he is and let you all know. Thanks for the prayers and well wishes. He will appreciate all the concern.

Hi Joe, I just went through the same garbage you're going through now. (I had a small bowel obstruction that required surgery...then it got infected a couple times) They opened up the incision and left it open to heal from the inside out. I've been hospitalized 5 times since my Lap RNY on 3-8-01. BUT!...I was discharged a couple weeks ago today and have been FINALLY doing much, much better!! So just hang on, it will get better even though you don't think it will! You'll be in my thoughts!! Take care!!

I spoke to Joe on Friday. He was upset and told me he was on his way back to the hospital. The infection he has is not getting any better and the doctor wants to cut him open AGAIN (for the 3rd time) and go about 6 inches to see if he can get some of the infection to drain off. He feels the nursing staff at the hospital can better care for him than the at home nurses. Joe is very disappointed and disheartened as any of us would be if we had to go through what he has been through. My heart goes out to him and his wife. Joe.....your in my thoughts and prayers buddy. I am sending you big hugs and kisses for a speedy recovery.

Hi Joe. Please know that you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers out here in California. Hang in there, and I'm sure you'll be on the golf course in no time :o).

I just spoke to Joe by telephone. He is having a really hard time with this surgery. Now that he had the second surgery to correct the mistakes from teh first time, he has developed a really bad infection in his scar. He has to have visiting nurses 2 times a day to come in and take care of him. He will probably be out of work for 12 weeks. His wife was able to stay home the last 2 weeks with him but she goes back to work tomorrow. He is nervous about it and hates that he will be alone except for when the nurses are there. He told me to say hello to everyone and to thank you for all your thoughts and prayers and if you have emailed him, he is sorry for not responding but he is still too weak to sit by the computer. He has lost 70 pounds in 3 weeks and he is complaining of not really having much of an appetite at all. He is on stage 5 now, which is great. He also says he has a metal taste in his mouth that is driving him crazy. I will try to keep everyone updated as I hear from him. Thank you to everyone who has emailed me with concerns and well wishes for Joe.
