I just spoke to Joe by telephone. He is having a really hard time with this surgery. Now that he had the second surgery to correct the mistakes from teh first time, he has developed a really bad infection in his scar. He has to have visiting nurses 2 times a day to come in and take care of him. He will probably be out of work for 12 weeks. His wife was able to stay home the last 2 weeks with him but she goes back to work tomorrow. He is nervous about it and hates that he will be alone except for when the nurses are there. He told me to say hello to everyone and to thank you for all your thoughts and prayers and if you have emailed him, he is sorry for not responding but he is still too weak to sit by the computer. He has lost 70 pounds in 3 weeks and he is complaining of not really having much of an appetite at all. He is on stage 5 now, which is great. He also says he has a metal taste in his mouth that is driving him crazy.
I will try to keep everyone updated as I hear from him. Thank you to everyone who has emailed me with concerns and well wishes for Joe.
