Hi! I just wanted to let everyone know that Martha is home from the hospital and is in recovery. She is the first patient I know to have been able to get her surgery done here in FAIRBANKS, Alaska! WOW! She had the wonderful Dr. John Mayer (who went out and got recertified to do the Gastric Bypass surgery... he used to do them a long time ago when he was in the military). Anyway... because Martha had a "nissan" done (where they wrap the top of your stomach around your esophagus), the surgery was a little more difficult than normal and she said that her surgery lasted about 8 hours. She also said that Dr. Mayer was able to do it Lap! WhooHoo! Anyway... just wanted to post an update for everyone to let you know that Martha did make it through surgery fine and is home recovering!

Hey ya Martha! Congrats on the surgery! Thanks for the email update... glad you are doing so well... sorry I couldn't post earlier... guess I was a little out of commission myself! LOL! Anyway... just wanted to post on your surgery date page! Hugs! My lighter friend!...

Martha, I hope your surgery went well and you are on the road to a speedy recovery.I had surgery the 10 of Dec. and I feel pretty good. It has been alittle rough but it gets better, time seems to tick tick by but a week will be gone before you know it. You take care and keep us all posted, can't wait to hear how you are.
