Good Evening AMOS! <p> It's been a long time since I've posted here, but I do read up now and then, however today is a big day for us! Today is Jeff's re-Birthday! One year ago today he had his Open RNY, and to date has lost just over 270 pounds!! However, is is a little down in the dumps today due to his one-year checkup with his surgeon, Dr. Flancbaum....when Jeff saw Dr F last week, he told him that as far as the surgery part of it was concerned, he could pretty much consider himself done with weight loss, aside from a pound here or a pound there...now I know I have read of plenty of people whom have continued to lose after their one-year window. We even know a two-year postie who has just recently lost a couple of pounds. I agree with Dr F that it will slow, and we've aways known that, but I don't think Jeff is *quite* done yet. Aside from following the rules, he goes to the gym weekly, uses our treadmill at home, works all week, and we are always running around doing something or another. May I please have some input from you long-term posties out there? I am sure that there are those out there who's experience supports Dr F's forecast, but I also think there are many of you who have continued to lose. Please help us out with any information you can give, as well as help me cheer up my hunny and celebrate his success like he should. Hiya AMOS, <p> Today Jeff is one week post Panni, and visited his surgeon's office and had his four drains removed. Dr Lidagoster said he will have to use gauze for a little while, because the spots will still drain some. He also removed the dressing from the incision so we can now get a look at all the wonderful stitches and staples (oweee!). He said that the skin looks remarkably well, but Jeff will have to be super careful to keep it really clean to prevent infection. He goes back in one week to see if the staples can come out. Pain-wise, Jeff is doing better than on Sunday, but is still taking some pain meds here and there. Overall, I feel really confident about how things are going, and I am so happy for him that he is on his way to recovering from this so he can begin to enjoy the benefits. Jeff, WELCOME HOME! So glad to hear you've gotten out of the hospital. It will take awhile for you to recover, be patient with yourself. Soon you will be up and around and feeling good again.

*****ANGEL UPDATE***** <p> Hello AMOS, I am happy to report that Jeff is now home from the hospital, and currently resting. It was not an easy ride home, and Jeff is not feeling so great at this point, but I know it will get better each day. We're hoping to get a nurse set up to help him with personal things during the week while I'm at work, and will speak to his PCP tomorrow about it. Thanks again for all your support, he really needs it right now. Bless you all no matter where you are in your own journies. <p> Irene ~^j^~

****ANGEL UPDATE**** <p> ~^j^~ Good evening AMOS, I'm here for my nightly Jeffrey report :) Today was a somewhat better day for Jeff, he said the dizziness was more or less gone, which leads me to believe it was related to all that anesthesia. Also, he walked up and down five steps today (with a physical therapist, of course), and said while it was no picnic, he managed okay. When we got to the hospital, he was up and sitting in a chair, and ended up sitting there for about three hours. The doctors said that it is best for him to walk as much as possible, and sit up rather than lay in the bed. However, getting in and out of bed is a bit of an ordeal, and Jeff found himself getting these strange chills for about five minutes after either getting in or out of the bed. We are really not sure what this is about, and he will ask his doctors tonight. I think he still may be a bit on the dehydrated side though, and when I spoke with him a little while ago, he was running a temperature of 99, so this may be the case. Either way, it does look like he will be coming home tomorrow, so we will wait to see what the doctors say about these couple of small issues, and see how things are in the morning. That's all for now, thanks to everyone for all the wonderful good wishes, thank you to Jeanine for her own little adorable update, and thank you to Jeff's newest friend Peter who visited him today and brought him a great cheer up gift! ^j^ ANGEL FLYING IN... I know Jeff's REAL angel (his wife Irene) already posted...but I have to tell you all something so cute and funny. I called Jeff at the hospital around 7:30-8pm tonight to see how he was doing. He told me basically what Irene had posted...that he is sore when he moves but the pain is not as bad when he sits still. That he was dizzy/lightheaded and they dont know what from...but overall he was doing well and feeling ok...just tired. <p> The funny thing I wanted to tell you was Jeff says to me... "Jeanine, I feel like 'it' is still there (his panni...all 27 pounds of it)...I lift up the bed sheet and stare down there expecting to see this mound of skin/flab and it's not there anymore...but I feel like I can still feel it on my legs!". Awwww Jeff you are too cute! I am so happy for you!! You deserve this NEW freedom....freedom from carrying around that uncomfortable skin...and having it inhibit your daily life. It's time for you to start really living and enjoying this world. None of us WLS'ers should sit back along the side lines and watch the world pass us by...it isn't fair! We should be living, loving and enjoying every minute we are on this earth. We are only here for a short time...so we need to embrace every waking moment! Now is your chance to do that Jeff!!
