Hi Linda! I work in a school office and wondered about taking time off as to when to schedule my surgery....I'm still in the thinking stages of it and think I should probably just do it. Someone recommended Dr. Bertha and Abkar to me. Maybe you can give me some info on how the surgery went, etc. Thanks!

Hi Linda, Sorry I haven't checked back in a bit. I use the Designer Whey protein shakes. Chocolate is ok, French Vanilla is uggh and Tropical Punch I really like. I mix with soy milk. Even the lactose free was given me problems. The soy seems to sit much better. I also bought cans of protein shakes- Worldwide Pure Protein, 35 g. in a can and Isopure drinks which have 40 g. in a bottle. I use those at work so I don't have to deal with mixing anything. Things are going well. I feel pretty good, seem to have quite a bit of energy and haven't had any problem being back to work for 2 weeks, but on semi-limited hours. This will be my first test week- full days of schools and three nights of meetings and/or holiday concerts. But only 2 weeks until our holiday break so then I have a week to rest. I go for my 1 month visit on 12/22- hopefully Dr. Abkin will clear me for exercise and modified regular diet. Hope all is going well for you!!

Hi Linda, Hope today was a better today. I was able to go all day today without using the heating pad. So every day has a new change. I thought before the surgery that I was lactose intolerant, now I am sure of it. I tried skim plus (the regular kind) with the fat free cream soup and felt very nauseous for hours. I wasn;t sure if it was the soup or the milk. But I cahnged over to the lactose free and even the protein shakes go down better. That is really the only food I have had a problem with. Good luck to you!!

Hi Linda, So glad to hear it went well!! Today is my day 10 out from surgery. Definetely take your pain meds. for the first several days at least. You need them to do the things you have to do to get stronger. I stopped too soon, after 2 1/2 days of being home. I had a real physical and emotional crash. I needed to start again, for two more days. At this point I am taking Tylenol 2-3 x/day and it is working ok for me. Also use the heating pad. I find it really helps. I use it anytime I'm sitting for more than a few minutes. The walking is important. I took little strolls outside my house and did all my own stuff- getting meds, fluids, making protein shakes. It kept me moving in the house too. The walking really helps make the bowels work. Wishing you the best. It does get a little better every day.
